Labor Minister: Egypt prioritizes training to prepare workers for Arab, European markets

Labor Minister Hassan Raddad stated on August 30, 2026, that the Egyptian government is focusing on education initiatives to equip workers with the necessary skills to compete in the labor markets of the Arab world and Europe. In an interview with Nile News Channel, Raddad emphasized the government's commitment to empowering Egyptian workers and providing them with top-tier training tailored to meet the demands of the labor market.

He mentioned significant progress, particularly in reducing the unemployment rate from over 13 percent in 2013-2014 to around eight percent currently. Raddad also revealed that the state has implemented a set of incentives aimed at supporting investors and simplifying the resolution of any challenges they may encounter, stating that a dedicated committee has been established at the ministry to assist investors.

Regarding the establishment of new labor regulations for private-sector companies, Raddad explained that the government's goal is to create a more stable work environment, encourage investment, and ensure that workers have greater job security through unified regulations for both small and large enterprises. For establishments employing 10 or more workers, the new regulations require formal labor guidelines approved by labor offices, whereas smaller businesses with fewer than 10 employees may adopt simplified regulations concerning working hours and weekly rest periods.
