Jika Umno pilih PN, PH perlu perluas ‘khemah besar’, kata pemimpin Amanah

KUALA LUMPUR: Pakatan Harapan (PH) must expand its idea of the "big tent" if Umno chooses to strengthen its partnership with Perikatan Nasional (PN), according to Amanah Deputy Leader Faiz Fadzil. Speaking to FMT after inaugurating the Wangsa Maju Community Merdeka Carnival, Faiz stressed that PH should "move forward" and broaden its coalition should Umno align with PN.

Current political developments are being closely monitored by PH, particularly the likelihood of a return to coalition politics involving Umno and the Barisan Nasional (BN) ahead of the 2016 general election. Currently, PH, along with several other parties, form a coalition government dependent on the outcome of the 2015 parliamentary vote, while PN operates as the opposition.

Both alliances have collaborated in several states, including Negeri Sembilan, Selangor, Penang, Kedah, Terengganu, and Kelantan, as well as subsequent state elections. However, BN withdrew from the Negeri Sembilan state elections on July 11 and has formed an understanding with PN in Negeri Sembilan on August 1, opposing PH.

Despite this, Faiz believes PH would not suffer any loss if the existing political partnership changes. He emphasized that the current PH-BN alliance was formed on the principle of ensuring political stability in the nation. When discussing the possibility of a greater union between Umno, PAS, or PN, Faiz stated that each party is free to determine its own form of cooperation within a democratic nation. Ultimately, voters must assess whether a formed political coalition can produce a stable and strong government.
