Three areas in Sarawak have recorded dangerous air quality levels, with Serian reporting the highest reading of 436 as of 6 pm, according to a recent report by Bernama. The other two areas, Samarahan and Kuching, recorded levels of 336 and 323, respectively. The air quality in Sri Aman and Sarikei was found to be extremely unhealthy, with readings of 266 and 214, respectively.

Seven regions recorded unhealthy air quality, including Sibu, Mukah, Bintulu, Samalaju, Miri, Kapit, and Miri. Other areas recorded readings of 154 in Labuan, 144 in Kota Kinabalu, Sabah, and 108 in Taiping, Perak. According to the Malaysia PMI scale, readings between 0 and 50 indicate good air quality, 51 to 100 indicate moderate, 101 to 200 indicate unhealthy, 201 to 300 indicate very unhealthy, and readings above 300 are hazardous.

Smoke ranging from light to thick was detected due to heat sources in Kalimantan and Sumatra, as recorded in the ASMC map. As of 5:30 pm, air pollution ranging from unhealthy to hazardous was reported at many air quality stations in Sarawak, western Peninsular Malaysia, central and southern Kalimantan, and central and southern Sumatra.

Light to thick smoke was also observed, accompanied by light to thick smoke concentrations in western and central Kalimantan, Brunei, and parts of western and central Sarawak, while light smoke from heat sources in northern Kalimantan moved south into Sabah.
