Himyan goes digital as QCB, Samsung enable payments through Galaxy devices

The Qatar Central Bank (QCB) and Samsung Gulf Electronics have joined forces to integrate Qatar’s national payment scheme, Himyan, into Samsung Wallet. This collaboration enables eligible cardholders to perform fast, secure, and contactless payments directly from their compatible Galaxy smartphones and smartwatches. Himyan, Qatar’s first national payment card brand, aims to promote secure, efficient, and locally managed digital transactions.

By integrating Himyan into Samsung Wallet, users can now tap into the convenience of mobile payments, adding eligible debit and prepaid bank cards and eliminating the need to carry physical cards. The integration also enhances security with advanced features like device tokenization via Samsung Knox and biometric authentication.

Qatar Central Bank Deputy Governor Sheikh Ahmed bin Khalid bin Ahmed Al Thani emphasized the significance of this milestone in establishing Himyan as the leading digital payment option in Qatar, showcasing the QCB’s commitment to secure, locally managed payment solutions. Samsung’s Vice President and Head of the Mobile eXperience Division, Fadi Abu Shamat, highlighted the seamless integration experience and the combination of Himyan’s trusted local infrastructure with Samsung Knox's security.

Users can add a Himyan card to Samsung Wallet by opening the Samsung Wallet app, selecting Add Card, and completing a quick verification process through their card-issuing bank.
