Grading Tennessee Titans after training camp, preseason finale vs Bears

The preseason has concluded, and it's time to review the Tennessee Titans' performance during training camp. The Titans' starting offense received a C grade, as they struggled in their preseason games but showed solid progress in joint practices against Seattle and Chicago. Their run game was physical, and the competition for the right guard position was resolved quickly.

However, the depth at receiver was impressive, and the base offense appeared to work, but big plays were inconsistent, and pass protection was still a concern.

The reserve offense earned a C- grade. While Nick Singleton showed potential to develop into a reliable NFL back, questions remained about the swing tackle position. The offense failed to progress effectively with backup players in the preseason.

The starting defense earned a C+ grade. This evaluation was heavily influenced by potential seen in practice, as preseason games resulted in a lower grade. The secondary had notable weaknesses, while the run defense performed well. The grade may improve as the season progresses.

The backup defense received a B grade. The depth at linebacker, defensive line, and safety positions were praised, contributing to the higher grade. The preseason games were consistent walls in the second half, and the sheer numbers in key positions were valuable.
