From fighting software piracy to protecting children with AI

A career spent combating illegal online activity has evolved into a new mission in the era of artificial intelligence (AI). For over two decades, Choi Seung-hyun dedicated himself to software license compliance and anti-piracy efforts, having worked with major companies such as Adobe, Microsoft, the Business Software Alliance, and PTC.

In an interview with The Korea Times, Choi explained that his extensive experience in software license compliance heavily influenced the creation of DragonEyes, an AI-powered tool aimed at detecting and mitigating harmful online content, particularly for the protection of children. The inspiration for this initiative stemmed from a question Choi posed during his compliance work regarding the ability to combat harmful online content. This led to the development of an AI agent designed to address the issue.

The significance of this project became deeply personal for Choi in November 2025 when he learned about a major multinational game company in the United States facing investigations due to its handling of harmful online content, some of which raised concerns about child abuse.
