FC Cincinnati falls at Nashville SC

FC Cincinnati suffered a 4-0 defeat to Nashville SC on August 29, marking their first shutout since March 8, according to the latest wire report. The game took place at GEODIS Park in Nashville. Cincinnati, currently in sixth place in the Eastern Conference with 31 points, dropped to a negative goal differential of minus-two after the loss.

Nashville, on the other hand, continued its impressive season, boasting a 16-2-4 record and a 10-point lead over Miami in the Supporters' Shield and Eastern Conference standings. Nashville has conceded only 17 goals this season, handing Cincinnati their first shutout since March.

Cincinnati's head coach Pat Noonan emphasized that the team's focus was on improving their play and positioning in the table rather than catching Nashville. The loss effectively ended any slim chance FC Cincinnati had of winning the Supporters' Shield this season.

Nashville improved to an 11-0-1 record in MLS play at home, while Cincinnati dropped to 1-5-5 on the road. Nashville scored the opening goal in the 43rd minute, with Sam Surridge heading in a cross from Cristian Espinoza. In the second half, Hany Mukhtar and Ayoub Jabbari also scored for Nashville, who dominated possession with 10 shots to Cincinnati's one.

Cincinnati's Evander was substituted in the 71st minute after being kicked in the left ankle by Eddie Tagseth. Nashville's keeper, Brian Schwake, made several crucial saves throughout the match, contributing to his sixth consecutive clean sheet of the season.
