Fahmi: 15 govt hospitals among early recipients of RM1b allocation to boost digital access and electronic medical record rollout

PUTRAJAYA, Aug 30 — Communications Minister Datuk Seri Fahmi Fadzil revealed that 15 government hospitals were among the first to receive RM1 billion to boost the digital efficiency of the public health sector. This allocation, previously announced as RM650 million, would expedite the implementation of the Electronic Medical Record (EMR) system and provide Internet access, including public WiFi, at health clinics and government hospitals.

Fahmi emphasized that this increase in funding aimed to accelerate digital access and the EMR programme, which was initiated through collaboration with the Malaysian Communications and Multimedia Commission (MCMC) and the Ministry of Health. He mentioned that the pilot implementation at the Padang Besar Health Clinic allowed doctors to access patient information electronically, saving time for patients.

Fahmi also noted that the Ministry of Communications would ensure the effective communication of Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim's messages on government assistance and successes to the public.
