Efforts intensify to locate six South Africans missing in Nepal

Gift of the Givers and the Department of International Relations and Cooperation have been intensifying efforts to locate six South Africans reported missing after devastating floods in Nepal. Dr Imtiaz Sooliman, who is leading the search, has not yet confirmed their whereabouts. He has highlighted the challenges in reaching the disaster area, which have been exacerbated by landslides, mudslides, and damaged communication networks.

Sooliman stated that the organization is in constant contact with the families, as authorities and volunteers continue their search for the missing tourists. He emphasized the uncertainty surrounding the exact location of the six missing South Africans, indicating that initial reports varied, with some initially claiming they were on the Nepal side and later suggesting they were on the Tibet side.

The time between the family's initial report and the onset of the floods, as well as their exact proximity to the disaster zone, remain unknown.
