East African Athletes Top 2nd Enugu City Int’l Marathon,

In the 42km men's category of the Enugu City International Marathon, Edwin Kipyogo of Kenya won the race, completing it in 2 hours, 23 minutes, and 38 seconds, earning a prize of $15,000. Habtamu Girma of Ethiopia placed second with a time of 2 hours, 23 minutes, and 39 seconds, taking home $10,000. Shiferaw Daltiemayu from Ethiopia finished third, with a time of 2 hours, 23 minutes, and 41 seconds, and received a cash prize of $5,000.

In the women's 42km category, Zennebe Aberu of Ethiopia emerged victorious, finishing the race in 2 hours, 48 minutes, and 40 seconds. Negashu Chatiu, also from Ethiopia, came in second with a time of 3 hours, 3 minutes, and 18 seconds. Adugna Mahlet from Kenya secured the third position, with a time of 3 hours, 6 minutes, and 32 seconds.

All three female athletes received cash prizes of $15,000, $10,000, and $5,000 respectively, mirroring their male counterparts. In the 10km men's category, Gang James Boyi, Davwi Gyang, and Pam Joshua from Plateau State won first, second, and third place, securing respective cash prizes of N1 million, N750,000, and N500,000. Ismael Sadjo and Kasinma Phage, placed fourth and fifth, each took home N300,000 and N200,000.

Patience Daylop, Obadih Vivian, Mwantiyi Teyei Davou, Danjuma Agness, and Nvou Gyang Tanko from Nigeria finished first to fifth in the 10km women's category, each winning the same prizes as their male counterparts. Governor Dr. Peter Mbah of Enugu State praised the marathon as a demonstration of his government's commitment to welcoming businesses, creating opportunities for young people, and expanding the state's tourism potential.

He expressed his desire to position Enugu State as Africa's sporting capital and encouraged athletes to return for future editions and bring their friends and colleagues to participate.
