Damascus International Fair showcases Syria’s renewed economic engagement: Minister

The 63rd Damascus International Fair opened in Syria's capital city, Damascus, on a theme of "Syria Shines Again." The event saw the involvement of approximately 1,000 local, Arab, and foreign companies representing 60 countries. The fair, organized by the Syrian government, showcases economic, commercial, and cultural activities in the country.

Hind Kabawat, the Minister of Social Affairs and Labor of the Syrian Arab Republic, explained to Qatar News Agency that the fair serves as a platform for fostering economic and trade cooperation. It also hosts various social and cultural events. Kabawat highlighted that daily performances, featuring musical groups from different regions and cultures, contribute to social cohesion.

The fair's Director of Media Communications, Abdullah Hallaq, told QNA that the Damascus International Fair symbolizes Syria's renewed openness to the world. He stressed the fair's significance in supporting the national economy and stimulating economic and commercial activities. Hallaq added that this edition of the fair devotes the first three days to business-to-business (B2B) and business-to-government (B2G) activities.

These focus on investment discussions, contract and agreement negotiations, particularly in industries and trade.

The current edition of the fair is distinct from earlier events due to its emphasis on B2B and B2G sectors. Around 1,000 companies from Syria, other Arab countries, and abroad are participating in the fair. The fair, which will run until September 4, offers a diverse range of economic, commercial, cultural, and social meetings and events.
