Cowboys Make Blockbuster Trade Move to Help Dak Prescott

Jones' tenure with the Steelers appeared to be nearing its conclusion. Pittsburgh had drafted Jones overall in the first round in 2026, while he played significant portions of all three preseason games. However, Jones' consistency issues became apparent, leading to his missing six games last season due to a neck injury, which then necessitated spinal fusion surgery. These setbacks have been challenging for a player of his caliber.

Since joining the NFL, Jones has allowed 22 sacks, ranking 70th among 89 qualified tackles with a 57.7 grade in 2025. After Pittsburgh declined his fifth-year option, Jones now has a second opportunity with the Cowboys. For Dallas, this move represents an opportunity to bolster the offensive line around Prescott while providing Jones with a fresh start to regain consistency.
