Chase Jackson breaks her own American record, clears shot put barrier

Chase Jackson set a new American record in the shot put event, clearing 21.02 meters at the ISTAF Berlin meet in Germany. This throw represents the second-best mark in the last 14 years, placing her among the elite performers in the sport. The 32-year-old from Los Alamos, New Mexico, is the first woman from the Western Hemisphere to achieve this milestone.

Jackson's previous American record was 20.95 meters, set just last year in June 2025. Prior to that, she had thrown 20.76 meters at the 2023 Prefontaine Classic, surpassing the 2016 Olympic gold medalist Michelle Carter's American record of 20.63. This achievement marks a significant moment in Jackson's career, as she becomes the second woman in the last 14 years to clear the 21-meter barrier.

Her performance in Berlin suggests she is now a key member of the U.S. team, poised to compete with the world's best.
