Chase Elliott says postseason seeding 'irrelevant' if you don't perform

Chase Elliott's Saturday night race at Daytona didn't go as planned. The No. 9 team finished in 23rd place after a late wreck by Carson Hocevar forced the race into overtime. Elliott was too far back to make a run during the two-lap shootout to the finish. He expressed disappointment in the result, as he had hoped to improve his position in the points standings heading into the Chase.

However, he was clear that what matters moving forward in the postseason is not the starting position, but how you finish. Elliott acknowledged that they've had a terrible stretch in recent months, with only one top-10 finish since late June. He emphasized that the points reset at the beginning of the Chase offers the team a fresh start.

Regardless of where they are in the standings, it only takes a few good races to turn things around. Elliott stressed that if you don't perform at a high level, it won't work. The first race of the Chase is scheduled for next weekend at Darlington.
