Budi95 quota restored to 300 litres, diesel allocation raised from Sept 1

Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim announced on September 1st that the BUDI95 programme's monthly subsidised RON95 fuel quota would be increased from 200 litres to 300 litres. This move, coinciding with Merdeka Eve, would benefit more than 16 million users. Additionally, the subsidy for subsidised diesel under the BUDI Diesel programme increased from 300 litres to 400 litres, benefiting over 500,000 eligible diesel-powered vehicle owners.

The increase in quotas was initially lowered to 200 litres in April due to global crude price hikes and supply chain disruptions, aimed at reducing the government's fiscal burden. Furthermore, the government pledged to allocate 50% more funds for school maintenance, expanding from RM1 billion to RM1.5 billion, covering various educational institutions.

Anwar also opened the AI for the People programme to Malaysians aged 18 to 30, offering 100,000 youths free three-month AI application subscriptions if they complete the required modules. The government pledged RM1 billion for enhancing digital capabilities in public healthcare, covering electronic medical records and internet connectivity at 150 hospitals and 2,000 clinics.

Lastly, Anwar raised the annual sales threshold for e-Invoice exemption from RM1 million to RM3 million, and increased microfinancing facilities by RM1 billion, bringing total funding for 2026 to RM6 billion.
