Bruno Fernandes turned down astronomical offer from Saudi Pro League to stay at Manchester United

Manchester United captain Bruno Fernandes has rejected a substantial offer from the Saudi Pro League, opting to remain with his current club. The 31-year-old midfielder previously declined a lucrative contract from Al-Hilal last year, but this time Saudi Pro League made an approach to entice him away from Old Trafford. According to Sunday Mirror, the Saudi Pro League extended an offer of £640,000 per week tax-free over four years, amounting to a total of £133 million.

Despite the significant sum, Fernandes has reaffirmed his commitment to Manchester United. The Portuguese has a year remaining on his existing contract at Old Trafford, with the club retaining the option to extend his stay by another twelve months. Fernandes, since Sir Alex Ferguson's retirement, has been one of United's most significant signings, consistently performing over the years.

In 328 appearances for United, he has scored 107 goals and provided 108 assists. Recently, he won the prestigious PFA Players’ Player of the Year award for the 2025-26 season, breaking the previous record of 20 assists jointly held by Thierry Henry and Kevin De Bruyne with 21 assists in the Premier League last season. However, Fernandes faced challenges in creating chances and influencing the game during a recent match against Hull City, which resulted in a shocking 2-0 victory for the visitors.

The Portuguese will aim to recover on Sunday when Manchester United hosts Ipswich Town at Old Trafford.
