Bond posts 6th clean sheet in last seven starts as Dynamo play Earthquakes to 0-0 draw

Jonathan Bond made four crucial saves, securing his sixth clean sheet in just seven starts as the Houston Dynamo secured a 0-0 draw against the San Jose Earthquakes on Saturday night. Midfielder Angus Gunn had not been tested in his first clean sheet, having conceded 18 goals in his first six appearances for San Jose. Bond's streak of five straight shutouts came to an end after a 2-1 road loss to St. Louis City, breaking a nine-match unbeaten run for Houston.

San Jose, now in fourth place in the Western Conference, struggled after a 5-1 home defeat to Minnesota United, failing to improve their position. The Dynamo, leading the all-time series between the two teams 19-11-6, including a 13-3-2 home advantage, came into the match with a 12-7-3 record. The Earthquakes, however, failed to secure a win in August and are on a 0-6-1 streak since a 3-1 road victory over the Portland Timbers.

Houston defender Luccas Halter received a one-match suspension due to excessive yellow-card accumulation.
