At least 37 killed in drone attack on ammunition warehouse in Myla; Zelenskyy responds

At least 37 people were killed in a drone attack on an ammunition warehouse in Myla, a village in the Bucha district west of Kyiv, Ukraine. The attack, which occurred on Friday night, was described by Ukrainian officials as the deadliest incident of the year. The warehouse was storing shells, mines, and other ammunition, and the explosion triggered massive fires that spread to nearby homes and buildings, damaging nearly 50 residential structures.

Over 370 people were evacuated from the area. Of the 37 fatalities, 34 were residents of a care home for the elderly and disabled. The attack came amid a surge of nearly continuous Russian strikes on Kyiv and other parts of Ukraine, with officials stating that Moscow is building up its missile stocks and conducting large-scale assaults to exhaust Ukraine's defenses.

President Volodymyr Zelenskyy condemned the attack, describing it as "terrible negligence" and calling for a thorough investigation. He also criticized the Ukrainian government for repeating the same mistakes made in the Vyshneve attack, where 22 people were killed in July. Ukrainian Prime Minister Serhii Koretskyi echoed Zelenskyy's concerns, stating that the repeated tragedies demonstrate a pattern of negligence and calling for accountability.

The Russian Defense Ministry claimed it targeted a warehouse storing components for long-range drones, as well as logistics centers and missile storage facilities.
