AAP Leader Gurpreet Singh Shot Dead In Ferozepur Over Election Dispute: Police

Ferozepur saw the brutal assassination of AAP leader Gurpreet Singh, also known as Gopi, on Saturday evening, with police alleging the act was election-related. The 45-year-old was shot dead along with Harpreet alias Happy, 22, by four armed men in the Mamdot bazaar, according to sources. The assailants descended from four cars and opened fire on the duo riding a motorcycle. Vicky Maini, the newly elected president of Mamdot Nagar Panchayat from the AAP, was also present but managed to escape unscathed, sources report.

The injured were taken to the Civil Hospital, where Gurpreet was pronounced dead, while Harpreet was transferred to a private hospital in Ludhiana. Senior Superintendent of Police Bhupinder Singh confirmed the police have identified the perpetrators and teams are being deployed to apprehend them. Singh stated the killing was due to a personal vendetta linked to the recent municipal council elections.

Notably, Gurpreet's father Balkar Singh was a former Congress leader, and his sister-in-law had recently been elected as a Nagar Panchayat member, adding to the political dimensions of the case.
