A Star Wars Galaxies community server was allegedly hacked with AI assistance by a Reddit moderator harboring a primeval grudge

Star Wars Galaxies Legends, a community server housing a customized version of the discontinued MMO, reportedly experienced a hack where its assets were decrypted by an individual known as levarrishawk. Levarrishawk, who goes by the same name on Reddit, allegedly utilized AI tools to accomplish this. According to a post on the server's Discord, Levarrishawk aimed to access and distribute assets from custom content, including items and questlines.

The hacker explained that he obtained the necessary tools from a group of individuals who eventually worked on Legends, who had used a "honeypot" scheme to acquire these tools from Sony Online Entertainment during the development of the live game. Levarrishawk did not share these tools with other community developers trying to revive the game. He expressed anger over the "hoarding" of these tools by the larger community, stating, "You don't get to protect and hoard from the greater community things built on stolen goods."

Levarrishawk's motive behind the hack stemmed from a longstanding grudge dating back roughly fourteen years ago. The response from the community was not particularly favorable to Levarrishawk's actions or his reasoning. Comments from other moderators and users reflected dissatisfaction, with many expressing disappointment and labeling his actions as harmful to the Star Wars Galaxies community.
