2027: NDC accuses INEC of replacing its candidates

The Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC) has accused the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) of deliberately removing its officially nominated candidates for the 2027 general elections and replacing them with unauthorized individuals. NDC National Chairman, Senator Moses Cleopas Zuwoghe, expressed his condemnation of the action, stating that the electoral body's move was aimed at sabotaging the party and causing widespread disaffection among its supporters.

The NDC highlighted the issue in Anambra State, where nine candidates, not authorized by the party, were listed as candidates. The party called upon the INEC Chairman to immediately initiate an investigation into the matter and extend it to other states, such as Benue and Imo, where similar discrepancies were reported. Zuwoghe alleged that the electoral commission's upload process was used for blackmail and intimidation purposes.

The NDC clarified that their leaders did not authorize the uploading of these unauthorized names, as they were submitted after the primary elections and appeals process, which were overseen by the party's leadership. Sen. Zuwoghe emphasized that the party would take immediate legal action to rectify the situation and assured supporters that the published individuals do not represent the party.
