2027: APM Demands Release of FBI Report on Tinubu

The Allied Peoples Movement (APM) has urged the United States authorities to release the findings from the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) report concerning drug-trafficking allegations allegedly connected to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu. In a statement issued by APM's National Publicity Secretary, Yusuf Abubakar, the party emphasized that the US authorities may disclose parts of the report that won't "endanger lives, expose witnesses, investigators or techniques used in the investigation."

APM contends that President Tinubu's persistent obstruction of the report's public release lends credence to suspicions of guilt and a cover-up scheme. The party also urged the United States to acknowledge the potential harm that withholding such information could cause to Nigeria's security, national integrity, and democratic progress. The United States, being a leading democracy, should lead the initiative to promote transparency and combat drug trafficking and corruption worldwide.

The allegations against Tinubu, which include drug-related transactions, have put a strain on Nigeria's reputation among other nations. Moreover, the 1993 $460,000 forfeiture judgement against accounts linked to Tinubu by the US District Court for the Northern District of Illinois further strengthens the case against him. According to a provision in the Nigerian Constitution, President Tinubu is ineligible for the 2027 Presidential election due to the forfeiture judgement.

Additionally, Nigeria is a signatory to international conventions on drug trafficking and money laundering, further complicating the situation.

As the country gears up for the Presidential election, APM called on the United States authorities to aid Nigerians in making an informed decision to elect a leader without corruption allegations and encumbrances.
