A textile company president was found to be running a large-scale gambling den. On the 8th, the Gangnam Police Station in Seoul announced that it had arrested 16 people, including the president of a textile company in Gangnam, on charges of running a large-scale gambling den. The suspects, including the president, in his 50s, are accused of running a high-stakes gambling den in a building in Gangnam-gu, Seoul, from June 2020 to April 2022, and of inducing people to gamble. The police investigation revealed that the suspects made a total of 1.26 trillion won in cash and chips from gambling. The police also found that some of the money was laundered through overseas remittances and real estate investments. The police arrested a total of 338 people on the spot, including 132 gamblers, and are investigating 16 people, including the president, on charges of violating the Act on the Punishment of Gambling and other crimes.
