Zelensky says US gave Ukraine information about ‘number of meetings’ in Moscow over past few days

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskiy informed his nation on Friday that the United States had provided Kyiv with details regarding several meetings that took place in Moscow during the past few days. Zelenskiy disclosed this information on the messaging platform Telegram, without specifying the participants or the purpose of the meetings. He expressed gratitude for the information and the diplomatic approach to conversations with Russia.

According to the Wall Street Journal, CIA Director John Ratcliffe had traveled to Moscow with the intention of cautioning Russia against any attack on a NATO member. However, the Kremlin denied this report. In response, U.S. President Donald Trump downplayed media coverage of Ratcliffe's trip, stating that Russia's President Vladimir Putin would not attack a NATO country.

Two sources revealed to Reuters that Ratcliffe had mentioned the potential for a Russian operation against a NATO member during his meeting in Moscow. The discussions also touched upon Russia's support for Iran, according to one source. Polish Prime Minister Donald Tusk confirmed that Warsaw was in regular contact with CIA leadership and was not alarmed by Ratcliffe's visit to Moscow.

Tusk stated that Poland had been informed about the necessity for an urgent discussion on the matter at the highest level of Polish-American cooperation. He emphasized that signals in the public domain suggest Russia is preparing to increase tensions, particularly in the context of the ongoing war with Ukraine and across the region, with autumn and winter expected to be critical periods for Russia.
