Xiaomi Smart Privacy Display Feature Shows Up In New Leak

Sony unveiled a new Privacy Display feature alongside its Galaxy S26 Ultra earlier this year. This function aims to shield the user's screen from being viewed by others. Following the debut, rumors swirled that other Android manufacturers were working on their own versions. Now, a fresh leak has emerged showcasing Xiaomi's take on the technology.

Kacper Skrzypek shared screenshots and a video clip on X, detailing how it functions. Dubbed Smart Privacy Display, the feature operates similarly to Samsung's implementation. A hardware component is required, indicating older Xiaomi devices likely won't support it. Users will also be able to establish separate groups and assign multiple applications to each, granting distinct privacy display settings for every group.

Additionally, Xiaomi is introducing an automatic function that enables the feature automatically when specific apps or web pages are accessed, without the user needing to activate it manually. These situations include sensitive information entry, payment procedures, money transfers, and messaging. Moreover, Xiaomi plans to incorporate a feature that detects eye movement.

Using the front camera, the device will capture images and identify faces to identify if someone else is gazing at the screen. Once detected, the user will be alerted that someone else is viewing their device. However, it's currently uncertain how this feature will manifest. The leakster mentioned difficulties in enabling the feature on his device, possibly due to a lack of code or inadequate hardware.

This functionality is anticipated to debut with Xiaomi's upcoming flagship phones, though not all models may receive it. The Xiaomi 18 Pro and Pro Max are expected to incorporate the feature, while the standard version might not.
