'Well, that didn't go as planned' says EA as it footage of its Iron Man game leaks online

EA has confirmed that leaked footage of Motive's Iron Man game is genuine after an unauthorized version of a trailer appeared online on Friday. In a response to the leaked video on the official X account for Marvel's Iron Man, EA wrote, "Well, that didn't go as planned." The trailer, built from work-in-progress footage, showcases two and a half minutes of cutscenes and in-game action.

It depicts Tony Stark flying around New York, battling enemies both on the ground and in midair, and visiting the S.H.I.E.L.D. helicarrier. The game's suit is equipped with various gadgets, and Stark's combat abilities look nuanced. The footage also reveals a suit customization system and similar appearances to the MCU equivalent, though Stark is not modeled after Robert Downey Jr. The trailer, labeled "Aug26 Test," suggests it's a recent creation and may have been intended to kick off EA's marketing cycle for the game.

Marvel's Iron Man was announced in 2022, meaning the game has been in development for at least four years.
