Unitek’s USB-C hub is also a wireless presenter — and yes, the laser pointer doubles as a cat toy

Unitek, an IT accessories company, has unveiled a unique USB-C hub called the uHUB S6+ 6-in-1 (D1163A). This device combines traditional connectivity features with a built-in wireless presenter pen and a red laser pointer, marking it as an unconventional addition to the USB-C hub market. The uHUB S6+ supports Windows, macOS, iOS, and Android, and features a 4K@60Hz HDMI port, three 5Gbps USB ports (two USB-A and one USB-C), and a 100W Power Delivery passthrough capable of delivering up to 85W to a laptop. It is compact, measuring 121.26mm × 48.52mm × 12.03mm, and comes in an ABS housing.

The standout feature of the uHUB S6+ is its magnetic presenter pen, which attaches to the hub and functions as a 2.4GHz wireless controller for PowerPoint and Keynote. This pen offers page-up and page-down controls, a soft-touch finish, and a Class 2 red laser pointer (650nm) with a range of up to 30 meters. Switching between Windows PPT and Mac Keynote modes can be done by holding both navigation buttons for three seconds, as indicated by the manual: "The indicator light will flash rapidly 3 times… switching to Keynote mode."

Although the primary audience for this device is business users and presenters, the inclusion of a laser pointer inevitably leads to another unexpected use case: amusing household cats. Unitek does not explicitly promote this feature, but those who have lived with felines know that a red dot can be an irresistible invitation to chaos. The company's description simply states: "Red, Class 2 Laser (650nm)." In practical terms, this means that your next Zoom meeting may unexpectedly feature an enthusiastic furry guest.
