Ukraine strikes Russian drone sites, command posts in occupied territories, General Staff says

On August 29, Ukrainian forces conducted a night operation targeting several Russian military installations in occupied Ukrainian territories, according to the General Staff. The strikes occurred across a range of 20 to 150 kilometers from the launch point of Ukrainian drones, as part of an ongoing campaign to weaken Russia's military capabilities.

The Ukrainian forces attacked facilities responsible for storing, preparing, and launching attack drones in Donetsk, a city in eastern Ukraine that Russia had occupied since April 2014. Additionally, targets in Hvardiiske, near Simferopol in Crimea, which Russia fully annexed in February 2014, were hit. Near Znamenka in Crimean-occupied territory, an electronic warfare system was targeted.

A drone command post was also destroyed in Berestky, a village in Donetsk Oblast. The full impact of these strikes remains to be determined. Moreover, the destruction of a Russian Buk-M3 surface-to-air missile system near Klintsy in Russia's Bryansk Oblast was confirmed by the General Staff on August 28.

Ukraine has been targeting military and oil infrastructure deep within Russia to further hamper Moscow's war efforts. Recently, Ukrainian forces struck warehouses belonging to Russian e-commerce giants Ozon and Wildberries, which also store dual-use goods used in Russian weapons production. On August 29, Ukraine reportedly targeted a warehouse operated by Ozon in southern Russia's Rostov Oblast, while several other sites across the region were also hit.
