Ukraine-Krieg: Explodiertes Munitionslager: 27 Tote bei Kiew

A Russian drone strike on a munitions depot near the Ukrainian capital of Kyiv killed at least 27 people on Friday evening around 20:00 local time. President Volodymyr Zelensky mentioned the incident on Telegram, reporting significant damage to surrounding infrastructure, including residential homes and a senior citizens' home. Dozens were injured in the attack.

One of the victims was Taras Didytsch, the chairman of the Dmytriwka commune, who rushed to the scene. Over 300 rescue workers were involved in the operation. According to Zelensky, nearly 400 people were evacuated from the area. The prosecutor's office stated that a company site was hit during the attack. Zelensky cited regulations against storing munitions near residential areas and mentioned ongoing criminal proceedings.

The main route leading westwards was completely blocked; the prosecutor's office had already reported ongoing investigations into "professional negligence" and a Russian drone strike earlier that night. Russian sources claim a munitions depot was the target of the attack. Main connecting roads from Kyiv to the west were subsequently blocked for several kilometers for firefighting and rescue efforts.

Videos on social media showed fire and explosions in the late afternoon. Prime Minister Serhiy Kozerchyk pointed out a similar incident in early July near the southwestern outskirts of Kyiv, calling the repeated mistakes "criminal negligence" on Telegram. According to official reports, at least nine people died in the July incident. Ukraine has been fighting against the Russian invasion for over four and a half years.
