UDST celebrates graduation of Uzbek trainees as certified vocational trainers

The University of Doha for Science and Technology (UDST) honored the graduation of 15 vocational trainees from Uzbekistan, who have completed a 10-month program aimed at enhancing vocational education in the region. This achievement is the result of a pioneering collaboration between Qatar, Uzbekistan, and the University of Doha, spearheaded by the Centre for Progressive Reforms (CPR) and the Uzbek embassy in Qatar.

The training focused on four high-demand trades: Electrical, Welding, Plumbing, and HVAC (heating, ventilation, and air conditioning). Participants underwent intensive classroom instruction, hands-on practice, and instructor development at UDST's Professional Skills Centre, aligning with internationally recognized standards from the National Centre for Construction Education and Research (NCCER).

Post-graduation, the 15 professionals will return to Uzbekistan to establish the Uzbek-Qatari Vocational Skills Centre in the Namangan region, which will focus on the same four trades and aim to train over 1,000 skilled professionals annually. This collaboration aligns with the memorandum of understanding (MoU) between CPR and UDST, which established a framework for enhancing vocational training and workforce development in Uzbekistan.

UDST President Dr. Salem al-Naemi expressed pride in the graduates and the university's commitment to applied education. The graduates are celebrated as the pioneering instructors who will help build a new model of internationally aligned vocational education in Uzbekistan, providing high-quality technical skills, internationally recognized competencies, and pathways to employment locally and globally.
