Trump says he’ll mark 25th anniversary of 9/11 anniversary at Pentagon, not New York

Donald Trump stated on August 29th that he would commemorate the 25th anniversary of the September 11, 2001, attacks at the Pentagon, but denied skipping a memorial in New York due to a disagreement over a planned speech. The New York Times reported that Trump had initially planned to make remarks at the site of the Twin Towers, but altered his schedule because the memorial organizers prohibit speeches.

When questioned by reporters about not attending New York, Trump replied, "Because I'm going to the Pentagon." He reiterated this response when asked why he couldn't attend both locations. The 9/11 attacks resulted in nearly 3,000 deaths, with hijackers from Al-Qaeda crashing two planes into the Twin Towers in New York, one into the Pentagon near Washington, and the fourth into a field in Pennsylvania after passengers overpowered the hijackers.

A clock from September 11, 2001, is on display at the National Museum of the United States Army's new 9/11 commemorative exhibit 'Steel & Stone' in Virginia, ahead of the anniversary. The White House confirmed that Vice President JD Vance would also travel to New York, stating that officials from all three sites would be present.

White House spokeswoman Anna Kelly emphasized that the President would remember the victims, honor their families, and pay tribute to the first responders. The Pentagon did not comment on the matter. Earlier, Trump had issued a lengthy social media post refuting the New York Times report, attacking journalist Maggie Haberman, whom he called "Maggot Hagerman."

He claimed that the report was "Corrupt News" and that he had visited New York numerous times without ever witnessing a "solemn ceremony." Trump stated, "I never even thought of what Maggot made up, and besides, I would love not to speak, because I'm speaking all the time, and this is a day to remember the victims, and their beautiful family members."
