Tinubu Mourns NPC Chairman, Aminu Yusuf

President Bola Tinubu has mourned the death of Dr Aminu Yusuf, the Chairman of the National Population Commission (NPC), describing his passing as a profound loss to Nigeria and Niger State. Dr Yusuf, who was 66 years old, died after a brief illness. The President expressed his condolences to the Government and people of Niger State, particularly the Wushishi Local Government Area, as well as Dr Yusuf's family, friends, and colleagues.

Tinubu remembered Dr Yusuf as a distinguished son of Niger State, a dedicated public servant, and a patriot who prioritized serving his community and nation throughout his life. He highlighted Dr Yusuf's extensive public service record, including his tenure as Executive Chairman of Wushishi Local Government Area, his involvement in Niger State's political and administrative affairs, his membership on the National Agency for Food and Drug Administration and Control (NAFDAC) Board, and his appointment as a Special Adviser on Political Affairs to the Governor of Niger State.

The President emphasized that Dr Yusuf's brief tenure as NPC Chairman was marked by a clear vision and a strong commitment to strengthening the Commission, ensuring Nigeria had reliable demographic data for effective planning and development. Tinubu called upon the leadership and staff of the National Population Commission to honor Dr Yusuf's legacy by continuing to work towards the reforms and institutional improvements he advocated for.

He prayed that Almighty Allah would forgive Dr Yusuf's perceived shortcomings, grant him eternal rest in Al-Jannatul Firdaus, and provide strength to his family, colleagues, and loved ones during this difficult time.
