Tadej Pogacar to undergo collarbone surgery after Vuelta crash

Tadej Pogacar, the five-time Tour de France champion, is set to undergo surgery following a crash that forced him to withdraw from the Vuelta a Espana. The incident occurred when he was 31 kilometers from the finish line of the eighth stage. Pogacar, who led by a substantial margin at the start of the race, now faces a setback in his quest for a clean sweep of the Grand Tours.

UAE team medical director Adrian Rotunno reported that Pogacar suffered a concussion, a displaced left clavicle fracture, a stable C7 cervical fracture, and multiple abrasions. While no neurological complications were reported, clavicle surgery will be delayed until he recovers from the concussion.
