Son of Missing American in Nepal Reveals Last Time He Spoke With Dad

Sunny Patel revealed to Fox News that he last spoke with his 72-year-old father, Jitendra Patel, moments before a devastating flood struck the Nepal-Tibet border. Jitendra Patel, an American immigrant living on Long Island, New York, was on a pilgrimage to Mount Kailash with his family when the flood occurred on Wednesday. The combined death toll in Nepal and Tibet is reported to be 676, with nearly 3,000 people missing, including around 90 Americans.

Rescue efforts are still ongoing along the Trishuli River, which caused the flooding. Jitendra Patel's family has been unable to contact him since Wednesday morning, noting that his phone has not reconnected to WhatsApp and all subsequent messages remain undelivered. The family is working to locate him, but has received limited information due to China's tight controls on information and restrictions on reporting in Tibet.
