Rybakina on track to recover from injury and play at US Open

Elena Rybakina, the current world number two, is optimistic about her return to action at the upcoming US Open following a leg injury she sustained during the Cincinnati Open earlier this month. The twice Grand Slam champion withdrew from her quarter-final match against Iga Swiatek on August 20 due to an ankle issue. Rybakina expressed confidence in her daily decision-making process regarding practice and potential worst-case scenarios, stating her belief that she will be fine in a few days.

The 27-year-old Kazakhstan player acknowledged the pain she experienced after the injury, but she is pleased with her recovery progress. Rybakina emphasized her desire to compete when she is 100% sure of her readiness and sees the US Open as the final slam of the year, which motivates her to be at her best on the court. She is scheduled to begin her US Open campaign against American Thea Frodin.
