Russian Drone Strike Kills One, Destroys Grain Trucks in Odesa Region

On Saturday morning, a Russian drone strike in the Izmail district of the Odesa region claimed the life of a single individual and injured three others, according to local authorities. Oleh Kiper, the head of the Odesa Regional Military Administration, reported that the assault inflicted damage on local transportation systems and ignited fires, severely disrupting agricultural logistics. The attack destroyed five trucks carrying grain and caused significant damage to three additional vehicles.

The Izmail District State Administration confirmed that the ensuing fires were successfully controlled, and law enforcement and medical personnel are currently present at the site to handle the consequences of the strike. The drone attack comes on the heels of a series of Russian drone assaults on Friday, Aug. 28, targeting the Kyiv region. That day, one person was killed, and at least nine others sustained injuries across multiple districts in the area.

The latest casualties occurred late Friday evening in the Bucha district, where a drone strike targeted an enterprise, resulting in six injuries. Emergency services were forced to evacuate 165 residents as secondary explosions ignited a large fire, causing extensive damage to surrounding private residences. Kyiv Regional Governor Tymur Tkachenko has initiated an investigation to ascertain whether explosive materials were legally stored at the enterprise.

Throughout Friday, additional attacks occurred in the Bucha and Fastiv districts, resulting in civilian casualties. On Friday morning, a man was killed and another injured by shrapnel during an attack in the Bucha district. Russian forces also struck the Nova Poshta sorting depot in Sviatopetrivske twice more shortly after the initial attack, while emergency crews were engaged in extinguishing the resulting fires. Despite the repeated hits, all employees from Nova Poshta were accounted for and unharmed.
