Ravens waive undrafted rookie CB Lardarius Webb Jr.

The Baltimore Ravens have waived undrafted rookie cornerback Lardarius Webb Jr., according to The Baltimore Sun's Brian Wacker. Webb's joining the team created one of their most captivating offseason tales. His father, Lardarius Webb Sr., played for the Ravens for nine seasons, amassed 15 interceptions, and contributed to the team winning Super Bowl XLVII.

Webb, who signed with the Ravens after his college career at Wake Forest, managed to rack up 36 tackles, two tackles for loss, one sack, and seven pass breakups during his senior year. Despite limited playing time, he maintained his performance, finishing the preseason with two solo tackles, one forced fumble, and one pass breakup.

Standing at 5-foot-9 and weighing 177 pounds, Webb brought versatility to the team by excelling in different areas such as outside, slot, and special teams. However, with depth at cornerback, such as Nate Wiggins, Marlon Humphrey, and Chidobe Awuzie, getting onto the initial 53-man roster was a daunting task. T.J. Tampa, Bilhal Kone, Keyon Martin, and fifth-round rookie Chandler Rivers also battled for reserve roles.

To become a free agent, Webb must clear waivers. If he isn't claimed, Baltimore might consider him for the practice squad due to his adaptability, growth potential, and strong ties to the organization. Despite not securing a roster spot, Webb's attempt to build on his family's Ravens legacy may not be his last connection to the team.
