Ravens waive three rookies, release veteran RB Jonathan Ward

The Baltimore Ravens trimmed their roster on Saturday, waiving four players and releasing veteran running back Jonathan Ward. Among those moved off the team were undrafted defensive lineman Dion Wilson Jr., seventh-round rookie Evan Beernsten, and undrafted running back Dontae McMillan. Ward, who saw intense competition in the crowded defensive line, is expected to rejoin the practice squad if cleared.

Beernsten's dismissal highlights the challenges of making it onto one of the NFL's deepest rosters, even with a draft pick. McMillan's exit, while less significant, still demonstrates the difficulty of breaking into a backfield already filled by Derrick Henry, Justice Hill, and fifth-round rookie Adam Randall. Ward's presence during training camp provided valuable experience and depth, enough to warrant a return to the practice squad if needed. All four players may still be available for the practice squad after the NFL's roster cut process.
