Postcard collection with artist Pavithra Srinivasan’s illustrations released

A collection of postcards featuring the iconic buildings of Madras, created by the late artist, writer, and heritage enthusiast Pavithra Srinivasan, was unveiled at Higginbothams Book Store on Saturday. The publication, titled "Madras: Arches, Alleys & Icons" by Pavithra’s Perspectives, aims to highlight the city's history, architecture, and visual character.

The launch was organized by Postcrossing Welfare Society of India, Nam Veedu, Nam Oor, Nam Kadhai, and the Madras Literary Society. Notable figures present at the event included T.N. Venkatesh, Principal Secretary of Handlooms, Handicrafts, Textiles, and Khadi Department; Prabha Sridevan, a former judge of the Madras High Court; K.R.A.

Narasiah, a historian; T.S. Padmapriya, a heritage enthusiast; Pavithra's father, Srinivasan; and architect Thirupurasundari Sevvel. The collection will be added to Poompuhar's existing memorabilia and mementoes of the city. Proceeds from the sale of the books and related material will be donated to a non-profit foundation that supports poor children's education.
