Osun guber: Oyebamiji congratulates Gov Adeleke, condemns post-election killings

Bola Oyebamiji, the All Progressives Congress candidate for the Osun State governorship election on August 15, 2026, extended his congratulations to Governor Ademola Adeleke on his victory during a speech in Osogbo on Saturday. Oyebamiji urged Adeleke, as the state’s Chief Security Officer, to promptly address killings, harassment, and intimidation of APC members and supporters.

He praised President Bola Tinubu for his support, former Governor Bisi Akande for his counsel, and former Governor Adegboyega Oyetola for his efforts to reposition the APC in the state. Despite the party’s victory, Oyebamiji expressed concern over the violence leading up to and following the election, including the killings of Remi Abass, Gbenga Ogbara, Dele Ayegbo, and over 35 others.

He demanded a thorough investigation by the Nigeria Police Force and called for an end to attacks on APC members, supporters, and businesses based on political affiliations. Oyebamiji encouraged APC members not to be disheartened by the election results, urging them to uphold democracy and trust in the institutions protecting their democratic rights.

He also called on APC leaders, members, and supporters to prepare for the 2027 general elections, particularly the re-election bid of President Tinubu. Oyebamiji commended the resilience and commitment of APC members, stating that the party would continue to strive for a more equitable Osun where resources, opportunities, and governance serve the broader interests of the people.
