Official: Sassuolo sign Esposito from Cagliari, total cost up to €12m plus bonus

Sassuolo have signed striker Sebastiano Esposito from Cagliari on loan with the option to purchase, for a total cost of up to €12 million plus additional bonuses. In exchange, Cagliari will receive Sassuolo player Riccardo Ciervo on loan with the option to buy at the season's end. Esposito, who had not played a single minute for Cagliari this summer due to a heated contract dispute following Inter's €4 million buyback obligation, abandoned pre-season training at the club's request.

He subsequently provided medical certificates to justify his absence. The loan deal costs Sassuolo around €1 million, with a potential buyout price of €11 million at the conclusion of the season. For their part, Cagliari will receive a 15% share of any future sale of Esposito, as they are obligated to contribute 40% of the profits to Inter Milan.
