Obi, Kwankwaso Movement rejects merger, warns against removal of DG

The OK Movement, a coalition supporting NDC presidential candidate Peter Obi, has firmly rejected the idea of merging with other political entities ahead of the 2027 general elections. The group, which consists of members from the Obidient Movement, Kwankwasiyya, and New Nigeria People’s Party (NNPP), also expressed strong opposition to any attempt to remove its Director-General and founder, John Ughulu.

This decision was outlined in a statement issued in Abuja and jointly signed by the movement's Convener, Ladipo Johnson, and National Secretary, Sadaatu Sani. The communiqué emphasized that the OK Movement intended to remain an autonomous organization while remaining open to collaboration with other groups pursuing similar goals.

It further stressed that any externally imposed amalgamation could disrupt ongoing programs and undermine the movement's identity and grassroots strength. The group's stance on Ughulu's leadership role was crucial, as it underpinned the organization's grassroots foundation. Johnson warned that removing the Director-General or altering the movement's independent status could lead to the disintegration of its grassroots structure.

The leadership also extended an invitation for Jacky Wayas to rejoin the OK Movement as Director for Strategic Implementation and Planning under Ughulu's leadership.
