No chargesheet in 4 years, Patna High Court bins ‘disproportionate assets’ FIR against DSP

The Patna High Court dismissed a 2022 FIR against DSP Ranjeet Kumar Rajak, alleging disproportionate assets, due to lack of evidence. The court found the prosecution case had no proper foundation, and the investigation remained inconclusive for four years. The FIR was registered based on an anonymous complaint, and the absence of a preliminary enquiry was also cited as a reason for dismissal.

The court pointed out that the calculation of assets wrongly excluded Rajak's documented agricultural income of Rs 34.55 lakh and included assets belonging to his relatives.
