'New ways to create conflict': BJP attacks Rahul as 'suddhikaran' row intensifies

The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has dismissed allegations from opposition leader Rahul Gandhi regarding a purification ritual performed after a political event in Uttarakhand. The BJP spokesperson, Sudhanshu Trivedi, stated that there is no caste angle involved and that the party has run out of creative ways to incite conflict in India.

He further questioned the Congress party's purported concern for the Dalit community, pointing out a previous attack on Harish Jatav, a Dalit, by a Congress government, which resulted in his suicide.

Rahul Gandhi, speaking at a press conference, labeled the ritual as a form of untouchability, a crime under the Constitution. He criticized the BJP and Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) members for engaging in such practices, stating that only they perform these acts. The Congress President emphasized that Dalits continue to face discrimination despite constitutional safeguards.

He also highlighted the ongoing atrocities and violence against Dalit children, who are often made to perform menial tasks like cleaning toilets and sweeping floors in schools.
