Nepal Flash Floods Update: 2,301 Rescued as Death Toll Crosses 630

Flash floods and landslides in the Nepal-Tibet border have resulted in a death toll of 633 as of Saturday, according to Anadolu, as reported by Antara. Nepali police have recovered 626 bodies, with 233 found in Chitwan and 158 in East Nawalparasi. The two regions were among the worst-affected areas. The floodwaters also swept away people from Gorkha, Dhading, and Nuwakot, originating from the Bhotekoshi and Trishuli rivers, which overflowed due to the Himalayan snowmelt.

Around 320 nationals from India are missing across the border, reported by Anadolu. In Nepal, at least 638 people remain missing, including 511 foreign nationals, though the number is expected to change as search and rescue operations continue. Nepali authorities have rescued 2,301 individuals or are providing treatment for their injuries, mainly in Nuwakot and Rasuwa districts.

27 Nepali police officers remain unaccounted for. A total of 4,811 personnel have been deployed across the affected regions to manage search and rescue efforts, evacuations, and post-disaster recovery. The International Red Cross estimates that the flash floods impacted approximately 93,000 people, as assessments continue in hard-to-reach areas.

As of now, seven people have been reported dead and 554 others are still missing on the Chinese side of the border, according to the state-run Xinhua news agency.
