Mufti Abdul Rahim meets Ahsan Iqbal

ISLAMABAD - Mufti Abdul Rahim, the head of Jamia Tur Rasheed, convened a meeting with Federal Minister for Planning, Development and Special Initiatives Professor Ahsan Iqbal on Saturday. The agenda of the discussion revolved around several crucial aspects of education reforms and development. These included curriculum enhancement, integration of religious and modern education, fostering research and knowledge creation, and character-building among the youth. The meeting also touched upon the role of education in the broader context of national development.

Addressing the gathering, Professor Ahsan Iqbal shed light on the government's efforts to cultivate a contemporary, comprehensive, and values-based education system. This system, he explained, aims to equip young individuals with up-to-date knowledge, research skills, and practical abilities, while simultaneously nurturing their moral, intellectual, and cultural growth.

He emphasized the importance of collaboration between universities and religious seminaries, urging them to converge on a unified platform to contribute to national development in alignment with Islamic principles and values.

Iqbal further outlined Pakistan's need for an education system that harmoniously blends ethical and religious training with modern science, technology, research, and innovation. He underscored the significance of Islam as a catalyst for knowledge, research, observation, reflection, and critical thinking. Notably, he highlighted the Muslim world's illustrious historical record in scholarship and research, pointing out the substantial contributions made by Muslim scholars in fields such as astronomy, medicine, mathematics, and geography.
