More than 2,300 police deployed for National Day celebrations in Putrajaya

PUTRAJAYA, Aug 29 — In preparation for the 2026 National Day celebrations at Dataran Putrajaya, a significant force of 2,354 Royal Malaysia Police (PDRM) personnel have been mobilized, according to Putrajaya district police chief ACP Aidi Sham Mohamed. Their duties encompass static and traffic control at crucial points around the event's location.

Aidi Sham emphasized the importance of the public's cooperation, urging them to arrive early at the venue and adhere to all regulations set by authorities. This includes refraining from parking in restricted areas, avoiding traffic blockages, and ensuring personal safety, particularly for children and belongings. Speaking to reporters after the full rehearsal of the 2026 National Day celebration, Aidi Sham also cautioned attendees against bringing any dangerous weapons to the event, stating, "Do not bring any dangerous weapons for the purpose of enlivening our National Day this year."

Earlier, Communications Minister Datuk Seri Fahmi Fadzil confirmed that the event, themed "Malaysia Madani: Kesejahteraan Dinikmati," will proceed as planned, with expectations of over 80,000 visitors attending the historic day on August 31.
