More than 2,300 police deployed for National Day celebrations in Putrajaya

PUTRAJAYA, Aug 29 — The Royal Malaysia Police (PDRM) has deployed a force of 2,354 personnel to guarantee the utmost security and seamless execution of the 2026 National Day festivities at Dataran Putrajaya on Monday, according to Putrajaya district police chief ACP Aidi Sham Mohamed. The deployment encompasses static and traffic control at critical locations within the event's vicinity.

For attendees, Aidi advised arriving early at Dataran Putrajaya and adhering to all authorities' regulations, including avoiding parking in restricted areas, preventing traffic blockages, and prioritizing personal safety, especially that of children and possessions. Following the complete rehearsal of the 2026 National Day celebration, attended by Communications Minister Datuk Seri Fahmi Fadzil, Aidi Sham emphasized that visitors should refrain from bringing any harmful weapons to the event, stating, "Do not bring any dangerous weapons for the purpose of enlivening our National Day this year."

Fahmi had previously confirmed that the 2026 National Day celebration at Dataran Putrajaya on August 31 will proceed as planned, under the theme "Malaysia Madani: Kesejahteraan Dinikmati." The event is anticipated to draw over 80,000 visitors.
