Lyon held to 1-1 draw by Le Havre after late VAR drama

In the Ligue 1 match on Saturday, Le Havre secured a 1-1 draw against Olympique Lyonnais in Lyon, following a late VAR drama. The game began scoreless, with both teams dominating possession and creating numerous scoring opportunities throughout the first half. However, in the 62nd minute, Lyonnais midfielder Corentin Tolisso put his team ahead with a goal.

Yet, the celebration was short-lived as the goal was disallowed for offside after a VAR review. Le Havre levelled the score in the 74th minute when Ally Samatta capitalized on a pass from substitute Fode Doucoure, finishing calmly. Lyon responded with a last-minute goal in the 87th minute, scored by Belgian forward Lois Openda. However, just moments before the final whistle, Japanese playmaker Sota Nakamura's supposed winning goal was disallowed, as a VAR review revealed a handball in the build-up.

Consequently, the match ended in a 1-1 draw despite Lyon's late efforts. In other matches, Angers defeated Auxerre 3-1 away, Troyes beat Lorient 2-1, and Toulouse drew 2-2 with Brest. Earlier, Strasbourg triumphed 2-1 over Lens, with winger Gessime Yassine scoring twice. Paris St Germain also needed two stoppage-time goals to secure a 2-2 draw with Lille.
