Lala’s legacy not a threat to my career — Daughter, Olamide

Olamide Oladapo, daughter of acclaimed Nigerian actor and filmmaker Lala, believes her father's legacy in the industry is more of an advantage than a hindrance to her career. Growing up in a filmmaking family, Olamide gained early exposure to acting, filmmaking, and storytelling, as well as receiving valuable mentorship from her father.

She recently worked on the movie "Chidera" with her father, who also produced and directed it. Olamide praised her father's professionalism, dedication, and passion for his craft, noting that working together was a rewarding experience that allowed them to combine their strengths, experiences, and perspectives. For Olamide, the movie was about creating something meaningful and building a family legacy, rather than just adding another film to her filmography.

The movie explores themes such as dreams, humanity, family, relationships, and unexpected intersections in life. Although she recognized the benefits of being part of a filmmaking family, Olamide emphasized that her father's name did not exempt her from the hard work required to succeed in the industry. She stated that while it was a privilege and a solid foundation, she still had to put in the necessary effort, learn, unlearn, relearn, and build her own identity within the industry.

Her father had instilled in her values such as discipline, professionalism, and respect for the craft, which she considered to be innate due to her exposure to the industry from a young age. Blacky, a comedian, content creator, and entrepreneur, is set to host his debut comedy event, "Another Chapter of Blacky," in Port Harcourt, Rivers State, on September 18, 2026.

The event will bring together comedy lovers, entertainment enthusiasts, and supporters for an evening of comedy, performances, and celebration.
